In Yogyakarta

Just a quick note to say that I am in Yogyakarta and having a blast. I just moved from my budget accommodation hostel to a much classier hotel. What can I say, I like to live the high life It has been awesome so far but still so much to see and do.

I can say that both Borobudur and Prambanan have been ticked off the list. I was also able to do those trips in the company two lovely boys. One from Coventry (weird or what?!) and a Peace Corps volunteer from Missouri who were staying in my hostel and coincidently was on the same train from Jakarta as I was!

Today is also my one year anniversary of being in Indonesia. It is mental how quickly the time has passed. It now means I have one more week before flying back home to the UK.

I better check out the rest of my hotel and do something right now. Stay tuned for other posts.

COUNTING THE DAYS!

I now have 7 teaching days left and over three weeks before I leave on an airplane for Edinburgh where I will be reunited with my beloved Doc. I am excited about living in another big city especially Edinburgh. I lived in Glasgow for four years so I'm interested to see how Scotland's capital compares. Hogmanay,The Fringe Festival and the Tattoo are just a few of the main events that will keep me busy and interested. Not a bad place to call home, eh?

My new home

My last holiday in Indonesia will be the Javanese capital of Yogyakarta. Home to the mystical temples of Borobudur and Prambanan. Jogja has long been on my radar but time and work got in the way so I think it fitting that I save my last Indonesian adventure for last.

Since this is going to be a solo trip, I might post a blog or two but I can't promise.

Have you been to 'Jogya' before? Any advice and suggestions?

Happy Birthday to me!

Today I celebrate my 11 month anniversary with work or you could say in a little over a month my time in Indonesia will be over and I'll be heading back to the UK. But enough of that, today is the day I kick odd my birthday celebrations. Tomorrow is the actual day, but seen as it is a Sunday, I am not that well (been suffering from the worst head cold) and nothing  particularly planned -apart from a trip to Facebar - I'll see where the night takes me.
